About

When Kaley’s team called to see if Kimberly could make her an “over the top” cake for her surprise wedding to Ryan Sweeting on NYE 2013, we were initially sad, because The Butter End closes down for vacation between Christmas and New Years. After a few minutes of chatting, Kimberly decided to cancel her vacation to Australia to do a special cake for one of her favorite clients.

Originally Kaley wanted to have a cake sculpted in the shape of her three beloved Pit Bulls. While Kimberly loves to sculpt dogs on wedding cakes, she likes to sculpt them small, worrying that beheading a big life-like dog cake is a little creepy! After exploring some options, Kaley and Ryan agreed to have the sculpted dogs on a giant tennis ball cake which would be the groom’s cake. The main cake would be inspired by the rest of the reception décor…but it had to be memorable and over-the-top.

The tent full of massive crystal chandeliers was the inspiration for what would ultimately be our most epic, gravity-defying cake to date!
